Must-see 1: dive into the history of the city with Le Duché
The first must-see in Uzès is the Duchy which is located in the heart of the city. Its construction has
begun in the 12th century with its ramparts, its keep, and its towers including the imposing Bermonde Tower. The rest of its history can be found in the remarkable Renaissance facade of the 16th century. There
The peculiarity of this facade is that the classical orders of architecture, Ionic, Doric and Corinthian, overlap. But a guide will explain this to you better than us if you opt to visit the Duchy.
The site is open every day of the year except December 25. During the guided tour, you will have
access to furnished apartments (living rooms, dining room, bedroom, chapel), the Duchy cellars, the Salle des Fantômes and the Bermonde Tower with its panorama of Uzès and its region.
Please note that the 135 steps to climb to the top of the Tower are steep and it is difficult to get
come across in certain places. Their ascent can be dangerous for young children or
the elderly.
Must-see 2: take a breath of fresh air in the Eure Valley
Below the town of Uzès is the Eure Valley, where tranquility and serenity reign. Ideal

It is in the Eure Valley that the spring which supplied the city of Nîmes with water is located.
in the time of the Romans. Today we can still see some remains of the aqueduct, including the regulation basin, which was once used to regulate the flow of water. The explanatory panels will allow you to better understand the route of this 50 km aqueduct which linked Uzès to Nîmes in the 1st century AD, and of which the most important vestige remains the Pont du Gard.
To get there, several choices are available to you: by car, take the direction of Saint-Quentin-la-
Pottery then turn right, or go down there on foot from the Parc d'Uzès next to the municipal swimming pool.
Essential 3: shopping at the Place aux Herbes market
Every Wednesday and Saturday there is excitement at Place aux Herbes. And for good reason ! One of the most beautiful markets in France is held there. On Wednesday morning you will find the local producers' market.
The ideal time to stock up on the destination's good products: olive oil, tapenade, wines,

Saturday morning is a completely different atmosphere. With its 200 exhibitors, the Saturday morning market Place aux Herbes is unmissable during a stay in Destination Pays d'Uzès Pont du Gard. There are people, colors, smells, local products, clothes and many other things. In summer, we advise you to go there early because the market quickly becomes popular with visitors.
Must-see 4: climb to the top of the Medieval Garden tower
In the heart of Uzès, hidden from view, the Medieval Garden conceals many secrets. When we
passing through its doors, one would not expect to find this intimate green space in the middle of a 12th century site. Created in 1995, the Botanical Garden aims to introduce the general public to the uses of plants in the Middle Ages.
The Medieval Garden is also a place which regularly hosts exhibitions and concerts and cultural events. For our part, we particularly appreciated the exhibition on the restoration of Uzès in 1965 following the establishment of the protected sector.
At the top of the King's Tower, a new panorama of the city and its surroundings emerges.
reveals. Splendid !
Before leaving, above all, don't forget to taste a refreshing licorice-lemongrass herbal tea
