For centuries, Place aux Herbes has been the epicenter of Uzès' markets. Every Wednesday and Saturday, amateurs and tourists flock there, attracted by the quality of local products and the friendly atmosphere. The fountain located nearby and the numerous small stalls will seduce you, especially when the sun is out.
The Uzès market, what an atmosphere!
If the Place aux Herbes is worth a visit in itself, you can't miss its markets, every square meter is occupied and the attendance testifies that the products are good.
If you are staying in the destination, aroundUzes or Uzès itself, and you are a fan of Provençal markets, you will not be disappointed! The Uzès market is typical of the “Pagnol” markets of Provence.
On Wednesdays, from 7:30 a.m., sixty local producers meet you on the Place aux Herbes, and this has been the case for over twenty years! The ideal place to stock up on good products from the Destination Pays d'Uzès Pont du Gard: asparagus from Uzège, gariguette strawberries, organic free-range eggs, pélardons, wines...
Much more than a market, this weekly meeting is the symbol of the excellence of local Gard products and a fervent defender of short circuits.
The Uzès Saturday market is known for its size (with 200 exhibitors), for its typical colors and smells. It is an emblematic place very popular with locals but also with visitors who like to stroll there during the summer. There are people, colors, smells, local products, clothes and many other things. We can only recommend that you stroll through the aisles and let yourself be guided by your instinct, your eyes and your sense of smell.
Be enchanted by southern sympathy
Uzès has acquired notoriety over the years thanks to the conviviality and authenticity which reigns in its markets, you will quickly notice it for yourself: the café terraces are often full of smiles. And this has been happening for a long time, since the first known market at Place aux Herbes was organized in 1241!
Framed by the superb old town, the heart of the market is on Place aux Herbes and then it extends over almost the entire boulevard. Good humor is always omnipresent. . .
With a city of art and history and an exceptional region, it's a whole place that comes alive!
Beyond the essential weekly markets, the town of Uzès promotes local production and gastronomy throughout the year with numerous events dedicated to the region: truffle weekend, wine festival olive, garlic fair, night markets in summer, wine festival, and for more than twenty years a Christmas market.
