Following the remains, follow the route taken by the Roman aqueduct to carry water to Nîmes. Discover the stone used to build the Pont du Gard as well as many other local constructions.

Description

Departure from the wash house car park at Vers Pont du Gard

Follow the “route de Misserand” to head towards the second wash house. Red and white markings of the GR63 Urban V.

Turn left at the sign towards “le Pont du Gard”.
Passage near the remains of the Roman aqueduct.

Arriving at the Vers pont du Gard roundabout, cross the road straight ahead (be careful) and return to the Pont du Gard site on the left bank via the Mémoire de garrigue path (Pont du Gard direction sign).

For the return:
Take the “Valive” path after the century-old olive tree (red and white markings on the stone steps).
At the intersection, at the “Pont Roupt” sign, continue straight towards St Pierre for 1.1km.
Passage near the St Pierre chapel.

Near the Bégude St Pierre hotel, take the path on the left to go around it, then the path on the right to head towards the D981 to cross it (be careful) and join the Chemin de la Bégude (yellow markings).

At the end of the path turn right onto “chemin du Mouras” then the first left (crossing the greenway).

Turn left onto “Chemin de la cave cooperative” then right onto “Rue de Palézieux”.

Turn right into “rue de la poste” which will take you back to the center of the village.
