Pixels cubes – Exposition de Nicolas Gal

Monday June 16
Jardin Médiéval et ses Tours impasse Port Royal 30700 Uzès
Nicolas Gal is a French visual artist born in 1975 in Avignon. Since 1992, he has developed a unique artistic approach by representing bodies and organisms in the form of "pixel-cubes". Discover his exhibition in the medieval garden.
"pixel-cubes": This technique allows him to merge digital aesthetics with traditional artistic practices such as painting, sculpture and engraving. The cube, as a perfect geometric shape absent from nature, symbolizes for him the thought of modern Western man.
Through his works, he addresses contemporary themes such as migration, global warming, the #MeToo movement, freedom of expression ("Charlie Hebdo"), the war in Ukraine, racism, the disappearance of animal species and women's rights, notably in homage to Mahsa Amini.

Artistic background:
– 1992: Creation of his first work representing a body in cubes.
– 1996: Obtaining a Master 2 in contemporary art history and first major personal exhibition.
– 1999: Registration at the Maison des Artistes.
– 2002: First exhibition abroad in the Czech Republic.
– 2018: First retrospective of his work.

In addition to his artistic creations, Nicolas Gal is also involved in scenography, decoration and computer graphics. He offers a variety of services, ranging from the creation of sets for live shows and museography to graphic design for communication media. His workshop is located in Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas, in Occitanie, where he also offers visual arts courses and educational interventions.
